Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrive Kilimanjaro.

On arrival, you’re transferred to Arusha Coffee Lodge, set among a working coffee plantation at the base of Mount Meru, to rest before the safari begins.

Stay at Arusha Coffee Lodge.

Day 2 — Arusha to Ngorongoro Highlands.

The drive climbs from the coffee-growing lowlands up onto the crater rim, arriving in time for an afternoon at leisure with views straight down into the caldera from the lodge’s terrace.

Stay at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.

Day 3 — Full Day, Ngorongoro Crater Floor.

A dawn descent onto the crater floor puts you among grazing herds and predators concentrated into a single closed ecosystem, before the ascent back up to the rim by late afternoon.

Stay at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.

Day 4 — Ngorongoro to Central Serengeti.

The road west drops through the Ngorongoro Highlands and past Olduvai Gorge, where a short stop covers the site’s role in early human history, before continuing onto the short-grass plains and into the Serengeti’s Seronera Valley.

Stay at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 5 — Full Day, Central Serengeti.

Morning and golden-hour game drives across Seronera’s plains and river valleys, home to the Serengeti’s resident lion and leopard populations year-round.

Stay at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 6 — Serengeti to Zanzibar

A final morning game drive is followed by a private charter flight from the Seronera airstrip direct to Zanzibar, trading open savanna for turquoise water in under two hours.

Stay at The Zuri Zanzibar, Kendwa.

Day 7 — Full Day, Zanzibar North Coast

A day at leisure on the beach, or an optional guided tour of Stone Town’s UNESCO-listed old quarter and a working spice farm inland.

Stay at The Zuri Zanzibar, Kendwa.

Day 8 — Departure Day.

A private transfer takes you to Zanzibar International Airport in time for your onward flight

Signature Experiences

  • Seronera’s Resident Prides: Unlike migration-dependent sectors of the Serengeti, the Seronera Valley holds resident lion and leopard populations year-round, drawn by permanent water and dense prey. It’s the reason Central Serengeti remains a strong sighting bet no matter when your travel dates fall, and why your two full days here are spent in this specific valley rather than further north or south.
  • The Crater Floor’s Black Rhino: Ngorongoro’s closed, 260-square-kilometre caldera concentrates wildlife into a single day’s drive, and it’s one of the most reliable places on the continent for a sighting of the critically endangered black rhino, alongside lion, elephant, and buffalo often visible in the same sweep of the plains.
  • The Flight Between Worlds: The single handoff of the entire journey is a private charter lifting off from a dirt airstrip inside the Serengeti and landing under two hours later on Zanzibar’s coast. There’s no second operator, no overland transfer, and no commercial connection through Arusha or Dar es Salaam, just open savanna out one window and turquoise water out the other.

Why Choose This Journey

  • Descend into Ngorongoro Crater, a single closed ecosystem holding one of Africa’s densest concentrations of the Big Five

  • Pass Olduvai Gorge, where fossil evidence rewrote the story of early humankind

  • Drive Seronera’s river valleys, home to resident lion and leopard year-round, migration or not

  • Land on Zanzibar’s north coast the same afternoon you leave the bush, one flight, no repacking
